That's an underline after "dans".

Biography:

Born in Utah, but raised in Kailua, Hawaii until age 12.

Junior High thru college in NY State.
Then built up and ran businesses there.

Not in NY any more!
Got smart and purchased a 200 acre mountain
farm in Tennessee and moved in early 2006.
We emigrated to a free country!

Widowed (as of early 2008), one stepdaughter, three stepgrandkids.

House, land, cars, everything... all paid for.

Career:

Built my first "hi-fi" system from scratch at age 12, including the circuitry for the tape recorder and the cabinets for the speaker systems (12-inch woofers!). Studied electrical engineering in college, but after that spent 13 years building and driving professional drag-racing cars (stock and super-stock classes). Achieved national recognition and even some international fame (Canadian "driver of the year" one year).

Reentered electronics, taking correspondence courses to upgrade my out-of-date knowledge. Started computer repair business which rapidly evolved into a computer software business. Cars paid for house down payment. Computers paid for rest of house and inventory for another business...

Then, in addition to some programming, ran a rock shop. OK, what the heck is a rock shop? Well, we sold rocks, minerals and fossils to collectors. We sold gems to jewelry makers and regular people, to whom we also sold settings and finished jewelry. We sold jewelry-making, lapidary, and rockhounding equipment and supplies. If it involved rocks or gems, we sold it.

Well, that's what I did. I just retired recently, and am doing some recreational shooting and a lot of hay mowing (200 acres, remember?).

Hobbies (in no particular order):

My wife at an IPSC match Target shooting: sporter, high-power, pistol, air rifle and pistol.
IPSC/USPSA action pistol ("running and gunning").
Race cars, mostly watching NASCAR on TV these days.
Rock collecting (ie digging my own).
Learning to be a machinist and wood-worker.
Bashing the government and national media, esp. the anti-gun, anti-freedom, anti-Constitution crowd.
Maintaining and improving my lovely Tennessee property and house.
Trying to grow old gracefully.

Is He Your President?

Of late there has been a sadness creep into me and not just me but in many Americans I suppose. It was hard to put my finger on that sadness but finally I succeeded: I don't have a President. I am a "American Without a President." Sure there is one at the White House but he doesn't represent nor care the least about me.

On The Need For Peace War

Over the centuries world population has grown. Occasionally it has grown large enough or fast enough to threaten the then-current level of civilization's ability to support it. There have always been three resulting things that have then reduced the population: war, famine and disease. These have occurred singly or in combination.

WAR: Generally kills the physically fittest but, on average, less intelligent members of society - soldiers.
FAMINE: Generally kills the most civilized as the least civilized take food by force.
DISEASE: Disproportionately kills the youngest and oldest members of society.

Which is the preferable solution? Which provides the most benefit for future societies?
